Jebel Toubkal is the best mountain destination in Morocco and has been a target for climbers since the early last century. The mountain path from Imlil valley directly to Jebel Toubkal is a perfect choice for trekkers who want to reach the summit efficiently. This 2-day trek with an overnight stay in a mountain refuge provides outstanding Atlas scenery.
Pickup from your hotel in Marrakech around 8:00 am. Drive to Imlil (1,740m), a Berber village about 65 km south of Marrakech, where the trek begins. Meet the Berber muleteer crew and your experienced mountain guide. Walk through Berber villages via the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2,500m) with a picnic lunch stop. Continue to the refuge at 3,200m where mint tea, hot showers, and a traditional Moroccan dinner await. In summer, there is an option to sleep in tents.
Start early to climb the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167m. Descend via the south circuit for 2–3 hours back to the Refuge. Enjoy lunch before walking back down to Imlil. A driver will bring you back to your Marrakech accommodation.
