Drive towards Ouarzazate via the Atlas Mountains crossing Tizi-in-Tichka pass. Stop at the famous UNESCO Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Lunch by the kasbah, then continue via Ouarzazate through the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna — the rose city known for its annual May festival. Arrive at your hotel in the heart of the Dades Gorge.
Drive through the amazing 'monkey toes' rock formation and the 19th century Kasbah of Ait Yul. Continue to Tinghir and Todra Gorge — walk under 300m-high red cliffs popular with rock climbers. After lunch, head to Merzouga. Meet your camel driver and ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset. Dinner and overnight in a traditional Berber nomad tent under the stars.
Optional early sunrise viewing over the dunes. Ride camels back and freshen up with breakfast. Drive via Rissani, Alnif, Tazarine, Nkob, and Agdiz through the fascinating Draa Valley with hundreds of Berber kasbahs. Return to Marrakech via the Tizi-in-Tichka pass.
